21st Annual Meeting of the European Association of Archaeologists (EAA) in Glasgow (Scotland, UK)
2015In September 2015, Cynthia Dunning Thierstein and Annemarie Willems co-organised with Ben Thomas (Archaeological Institute of America) the round table "Archaeotourism on the Move: developing guidelines for Europe" at the annual meeting of the European Association of Archaeologists (EAA). This round table aimed to develop the themes discussed during the session organised at the EAA in Istanbul the previous year. Its aim was to set up a working group to develop a guide to good practice at international level for archaeology and tourism.
Cynthia Dunning Thierstein also gave two lectures at this international conference. The first lecture, in the session dedicated to archaeology and tourism, presented the "Site of the Month" project, its organisation and the first results of the sites visited from June to September 2015. The second lecture "Sustainable tourism through standards of good practice" presented in the session "Sustainable Heritage and Tourism" demonstrated the importance of standards for sustainable archaeological tourism".
