ICOMOS expertise for UNESCO World Heritage

Before being presented to the annual session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, World Heritage nomination files are examined by accredited experts at the request of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS). Within this framework, Cynthia Dunning Thierstein is regularly mandated to inspect international sites nominated for UNESCO World Heritage status. She has visited sites in Turkey, France, Germany, Denmark, Iceland, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro and Serbia.

Cynthia Dunning Thierstein is also regularly called upon to examine the situation of various UNESCO World Heritage sites or to give her opinion on planned actions (constructions - evaluations - etc.) when requested by the ICOMOS International Secretariat.
